The internet is an awesome wealth of knowledge, history, information, people sharing their lives, and connections. More importantly, the internet is how today's world connects with each other. 30 years ago this was a scary concept. People believed that society would become unsocial and illiterate. But the opposite has happened. And it is because of the internet that we have become a more aware of worldly issues, and are able to access information instantaneously. The space we call internet is no longer such a scary concept.
(Taun, 1977, page 3) describes space as freedom; a space where there are little to no limits. One such space on the internet is the Google website. Google is a commonly used space for people around the world to source any information that they desire; google is a super-connector of the internet world. It has the ability to search through millions of relevant websites and connects you to the information you are searching for. This super-connector is able to bring together people from around the world within a matter of seconds and make a space that does not physically exist, a place, with its own symbols and rules. (Kuttainen, 2016)
In their TED talk, "The Genesis of Google," (2004) Brin and Page, begin by displaying a globe which displays the current Google users around the world. Google, being one of the main search engines of information sharing and networking, allows millions of people to connect, search, share, and learn simultaneously.
Today, society relies heavily on the internet, as we have developed connections which would have been impossible without it. Networks are no longer forged through physically knowing or working with someone, but can be formed over hundreds of kilometers through a computer screen and keyboard.
